NuCedar PVC Foam Panels
NuCedar uses a PVC foam sheet, that is then milled in such a way that it realistically replaicates the look of cedar shingle siding, without the maintenance and aesthetic degradation that occurs to cedar as it ages. The material is not cheap, however it should last at least 2x that of traditional cedar shingles.

Heartland CedarMAX Siding
CedarMAX composite siding provides added rigidity for straighter walls and better overall strength. There is some, but not much, added insulation value from the foam backing. This product was tested by Consumer Reports and received an 83 out of 100, which was the best rated Consumer Reports siding. The CedarMAX has a thickness of .050, is available in 3 distinct profiles and is available in 17 color options.

Fiber Cement Composite Boards
Fiber cement boards are made from a variety of materials and are therefore considered a composite material. One of the most popular products is the primed HardiePlank Select Cedarmill that runs approximately $2 psf. The product got a Consumer Reports siding rating of 73 and was one of their recommended fiber cement products, along with the Nichiha siding boards.

Additional Materials
There are always additional materials on any projects. These include items such as housewrap, soffits, trim & fascia pieces, nails, j channels, f channels, starter courses etc. These are difficult costs to calculate because many of them depend on how intricate the homeowner wants the installation and overall look to be.
