Clapboard Panel Pricing
Clapboard panels will typically run $.50 to $2 per square foot, depending on the materials used. At the lower end of this price range will be vinyl boards and plywood, the mid range will include fiber cement and pricier wood species such as pine or spruce. At the upper end of the price range will include composite boards and insulated vinyl siding panels.

Removal Costs
It is always important to remove the existing cladding from the home before installing the new panels or boards. This ensures that there is no wood rot or issues of moisture trapped inside the walls. In addition, it provides an excellent opportunity to use new house wrap, which provides excellent insulation for the walls. Removing existing siding will typically run $.50 to $1 per square foot.

Additional Materials
Most siding projects involve more than just slapping up the panels. They may require items such as soffits, facia, trim boards, collated nails, corner posts, F channels and J panels. While all cladding projects are unique and will involve a different set of materials, typically the cost for this portion of the project will run $1 per square foot.

Installation Costs
Installation costs will typically run one dollar to three dollars per square foot, again depending on the materials used. Vinyl and simple wood species will usually run $1 to $2 per square foot, while certain composite panels and fiber cement panels will run $2 to $3 dollars per square foot. One of the drivers of this higher price is if the contractor is required to prime and or paint each of the boards prior to installation.
