Bevel Siding Prices

Bevel siding prices will typically run $3 to $7 per sq ft, fully installed. Bevel siding is a type of horizontal cladding where the top edge of each board is thinner than the bottom edge. This allows the siding to wick away water, snow and other moisture from the house, thereby making sure that no moisture gets behind the boards and into the walls.

Bevel Siding Basics

Bevel siding is also referred to as clapboard, lap and colonial siding. It was traditionally made from real wood planks that were sawn at a slight angle to create the difference in thickness between the top and bottom of the board. Today, however, beveled siding can be made from a variety of materials, including real wood, vinyl, fiber cement and even composite panels.

Bevel Siding Costs

The main determinant in bevel siding prices will be the material used for the boards. Vinyl boards will run $.50 to $1 for the boards per square foot, where real beveled wood siding will run $1 to $2 per square foot. Consumers can expect to pay anywhere from three dollars to seven dollars per square foot for the beveled boards, all additional materials and the cost of the installation itself.

Additional Material Costs

All siding projects are going to require additional materials, which may or may not be included in the contractor bid prices. Some of these materials include items such as collated nails, under sheething, J channels and F channels, corner posts, soffits and facia board, as well as starter courses.

Installation Prices

Beveled boards are installed like most other horizontal siding, placed on top of one another, with a tiny bit of overlap between the top of the board in the bottom of the board above it. This ensures that no water or moisture is able to get behind the boards itself. Beveled siding has the classic look of colonial clapboard siding that many homeowners find extremely appealing.

Completed Project Prices

Completed bevel siding projects will run $3 dollars to $6 per square foot fully installed, this includes the boards, all extra materials, and the labor and installation prices. Regardless of whether you call it bevel, clapboard or even lap siding, these horizontal siding projects can create a home that looks great and should last for many decades to come.
