Vertical Siding Prices

Vertical siding prices range from $2.50 to $11 full installed. This is a big cost difference that is mostly dependent on the board prices, which vary considerably. Vertical siding comes in all sorts of different materials, including vinyl, foam backed vinyl, wood and even metals like aluminum and steel. Most residential homes that use siding have horizontal panels or boards, as opposed to vertical panels or shingle or shake siding. Vertical siding is quite versatile in terms of the overall look and style that it can impart to a home.

Board And Batten Siding

Board and battens are always done vertically. Typcially the boards are 4.5" to 7" in width and are laid vertically to the home. A thinner batten, typically 1" to 2.5" wide, is placed either in the middle of the board or between the boards. The batten is thicker than the board and therefore adds a "stripe" look to the home. Board and battens are often said to be rustic looking, although homeowners can certainly add additional features and accent areas if they want to alter this look or perception. Board and battens can be made out of a number of different materials, including plywood, vinyl and fiber cement.
